MARANDA J. BARKER DOTSON,  daughter of Wm. And Susan Barker, was born May 1, 1866, departed this life March 6, 1914,  being 47 years,  10 months and  5 days old.  She was married to John M. Dotson,   June 21, 1891.  To this union were born three children,  Audra, of Attica, Ind.,   Oral and Nellie, still at home.  Besides leaving the three children,  she leaves one daughter-in-law, one grandson, a devoted and loving husband, an aged mother, four sisters and one brother, also many neighbors and a host of friends. She was converted and joined the United Brethren church at Cates the latter part of Dec. 1991, during a revival held by Rev. J. L. Higginbotham, and kept the Faith until the last.  All during her lingering illness she bore her pains with patience and Christian fortitude.  Only a short time before her departure they had prayer in the home in which she took a deep interest and an active part,  praying,  testifying and singing praises to God.  At different times during her last days she called her family and friends around her bedside and insisted that they promise to meet her in Heaven. In her departure the community loses a good Christian sister, the children a kind mother, her husband a dutiful, living wife.We will miss her but our loss is her eternal gain, she has gone to her reward--  “Where Thou art, there we may be also.” -S
